When we look at the practice of yoga, including a physical practice, we begin to notice changes in the body and mind. Without having any discipline in a yogic philosophy the mere practice finds us making healthier decisions in diet and our life choices. We see changes that are enjoyable as we begin to experience self content. Still we want to continue to feel better, be more flexible, have more strength or use the science and philosophy of yoga as a complete healing modality.
This Master Series will explore the energetic system that underlie the whole human experience. This system referred to as the subtle body can easily be accessed by the practice of yoga. The subtle body is composed of a chief theory that we often eliminate from our physical practices. These practices are composed of nadis, chakras and bandhas. Nadis are similar to meridians used in acupuncture and are often described as tubes or lines that stretch out in a sheath beneath the body. Chakras are plexuses within the body where these lines meet. Bandha is a methodology of directing the energy pooled in the chakra. Hatha Yoga, comprised of a series of texts and based on a classical theory called shadanga, places a chief emphasis on mastery of the body. By mastery of this science, which includes flexibility, strength, and access to more postures, the body is made light, healthy and steady and able to achieve the first stage of yoga.
Each class will cover in-depth sadhana/practices to gain access to the subtle body system which is the basis of Hatha Yoga in gaining true power and knowledge of the Self.
